IOLEvidence (Qvision Academy) 2.1.7

The contemporary Cataract and Refractive Lens Surgery Specialist now has access to a multitude of Intraocular Lens (IOL) models, each designed to meet various patient visual requirements—whether for distance, intermediate, or near vision. These IOLs employ diverse optical technologies, which can often lead to confusion when selecting the most appropriate lens for a particular case. To address this challenge, it can be helpful to abstract the optical technology from the decision-making process and instead focus on the anticipated clinical outcomes associated with each IOL.

Based on this premise, the "Functional Classification of Intraocular Lenses" was developed by the Refractive & Evolution Department at Qvision under the leadership of Dr. Joaquín Fernández. This classification groups IOLs according to their similarity in clinical results, simplifying comparison and decision-making. There remains a need for a concise, reliable resource that provides quick insights into expected visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and patient-reported outcomes associated with different IOLs.

IOLEvidence consolidates findings from scientific literature and assesses the quality of evidence in those publications. This tool allows clinicians to obtain, within seconds, answers to questions that traditionally would require extensive review of multiple research articles, such as:

• Which IOLs are supported by robust scientific evidence? Which ones have the highest volume of studies?
• What is the overall quality of the evidence available?
• What level of visual acuity can be expected at far, intermediate, and near distances, with or without correction?
• What functional range of vision might a patient achieve relative to their visual acuity?
• How does contrast sensitivity vary under different lighting conditions in distance vision?
• And many additional queries pertinent to clinical practice...

The application also includes brief tutorial videos, approximately five minutes in length, designed to clarify theoretical concepts or answer specific clinical questions efficiently.

Furthermore, IOLEvidence incorporates advanced GPT models specifically trained on intraocular lens research. These enable exploration beyond standard outcomes, offering cutting-edge insights to advance research and clinical understanding.

The platform operates on a Freemium model. Free access includes viewership of the 20 most recent synthesized reports. A PRO version unlocks additional features such as full access to over 450 reports, regularly updated with new data, as well as ongoing access to new Rapid Learning tutorials.

To access all features, a PRO subscription is available for €49.99 annually (price may vary by country). Payment is processed through your iTunes account upon confirmation. The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renewal is deactivated at least 24 hours before expiry. Renewal occurs within 24 hours prior to period end. Users may manage or cancel their subscription via their device’s Account Settings or iTunes preferences after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, will be forfeited upon subscription purchase.
